I absolutely love this time of year when the jacarandas bloom in Los Angeles. I'd love to see an aerial photo of the city at the height of the bloom. This was the best I could find, see it here in flickr. But just imagine this on a huge scale... a big fuzzy purple grid.

This morning I had to get out of the car. The joggers all wondered why I had my camera pointed at the ground, with my car running, stopped at the intersection with door open. Little do they know.

{p.s. that link to the flickr set with jacarandas is only one of many really great shots of LA via helicopter, by Atwater Village Newbie: a tour of the city with parts we really see or think about.}

my brother and his little family live on a street called jacaranda in fullerton. of course, it is a street lined with jacarandas and the lavender "snow" is so gorgeous. :)
